About Januar
Januar is a fully regulated EEA Payment Institute, situated in the Nordics, with a license under the Danish Financial Supervisory Regulators.
We offer operational IBAN, crypto trade and storage, and embedded accounts for businesses. We specialise in securing fast and reliable rails for crypto native companies, and companies wanting to take advantage of crypto as means of cross border payments.
Our long term goal is to provide a trusted, safe and easy accessible financial layer zero to any company wanting to tap into using crypto as a part of their transaction flow.
The story behind our name
The name Januar isn’t random. It carries meaning that goes back thousands of years. Inspired by the Roman god Janus, who stood for beginnings, transitions, and duality, he’s often shown with two faces: one looking to the past, the other to the future. That balance between experience and vision feels familiar to us. It mirrors what we’re building, a bridge between the financial systems of yesterday and tomorrow.
But there’s more to the story. In Roman myth, Janus was also the first to mint coins, a symbol of enabling trust and exchange. A gateway to the future. That idea stuck with us. At Januar, we’re building infrastructure that opens doors and moves value. It's about trust, transitions, and creating something new, while respecting where we’ve come from.
